Memorizing Juzz Amma: All Your Questions Answered, Plain and Simple
Tajweed, duration, materials, neurodivergence, support: here are the 10 questions sisters and brothers ask before starting their hifz at home.
How long does it really take to memorize Juzz Amma?
By following the structured visual method, allow for an average of 90 days, at 20 minutes per day. This corresponds to approximately one new surah every 3 days, with revision by spaced repetition. Sisters and brothers with busy schedules can spread it over 6 months without loss of effectiveness: regularity takes precedence over speed. Neurosciences have shown (Ebbinghaus curve) that 15 minutes a day spread out produces memorization 4 times more lasting than 2 hours a week.
Do I need to master tajweed before starting memorization?
No, and this is precisely one of the obstacles our method removes. You learn the rules of tajweed as you memorize, thanks to the color code integrated into the PDF. According to a study by Al-Azhar University (2022), learning tajweed and hifz simultaneously produces 38% higher retention than sequential learning.
Is the visual method suitable for neurodivergent people (ADHD, dyslexia, autism)?
Absolutely. It was designed in collaboration with a specialized Muslim speech therapist. The color, image, and sound associations simultaneously activate the occipital, auditory, and limbic areas, circumventing the classic difficulties of a purely linear text. For ADHD, short sessions (20 minutes maximum) with immediate rewards maintain dopamine levels. For dyslexia, phonetic Latin transliteration accompanies each verse.
Which surahs does Juzz Amma contain exactly?
The 30th juz (the last of the Quran) gathers the 37 shortest surahs, most often recited in prayer: from An-Naba (78) to An-Nas (114). This includes Al-Mulk for qiyam al-layl, Al-Fajr, Ad-Duha, Al-Inshirah, fundamental daily surahs. Once memorized, you can lead a prayer without repeating the same surahs.
What if I forget a surah I've already learned?
This is normal and expected. The spaced repetition system included in the pack makes you revise each surah on D+1, D+3, D+7, D+14, D+30 and D+90. If you still forget, do not feel any guilt: the Prophet said "The Qur'an escapes from the hearts faster than camels from their restraints." (Bukhari 5033). This is why continuous revision is itself a rewarded ibadah.
Can I memorize without knowing Arabic?
Yes. 60% of our learners do not speak Arabic. Each surah in the pack contains: 1) the vocalized Arabic text; 2) the phonetic transliteration in Latin alphabet with accents; 3) the French translation of the meaning (Hamidullah revised); 4) the slow audio syllable by syllable. You build correct pronunciation before meaning, exactly like an Arab child learns.
Is there any support or am I on my own?
Your purchase gives you access to the private Telegram Circle "Hifz Murmures d'Iqra" (free, lifelong) where you can ask your questions, share your audios for benevolent correction, and find study partners (pairing = +60% success according to our internal statistics). A live audio Q&A session takes place every Friday evening, also available for replay.
