بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
The Prophet ﷺ said: “The best of deeds is that which is done consistently, even if it is little.” [Bukhari, Muslim]. Consistency begins with organization. And Islamic organization begins with the Hijri calendar.
Allah says: “Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve months in the register of Allah [from] the day He created the heavens and the earth.” (At-Tawbah 9:36)
Why live by the Hijri calendar?
The Gregorian calendar was designed to organize work and taxes. The Hijri calendar was designed to organize spiritual life. Praying, fasting, paying zakat, performing Hajj – everything revolves around the lunar months that Allah mentioned in the Quran.

Islamic milestones to plan for today
1. Ramadan — get ahead
The Prophet ﷺ used to pray from Rajab: “Allâhumma bârik lanâ fî Rajab wa Shaʿbân wa ballighnâ Ramaḍân.” Prepare early: Quran reading schedule, list of du’â’, zakat budget.
2. The first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah
The Prophet ﷺ said: “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.” [Bukhari]. Plan them as you plan your holidays.
3. Mondays and Thursdays all year round
The Prophet ﷺ used to fast on these two days and said: “Deeds are presented to Allah on Mondays and Thursdays.” [At-Tirmidhi]. Put them in your agenda today.
4. The White Days every month
The 13th, 14th, and 15th of each lunar month. The Prophet ﷺ highly recommended them. Our AL-MOUNIR agenda automatically indicates them.
Organizing your week Islamically
- Sunday: muhasaba — weekly review and intentions for the coming week
- Monday: sunnah fasting, abundant salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ
- Thursday: sunnah fasting, Quran reading
- Friday: Surat Al-Kahf, salawat, du’a of the hour of response
